Record Store Day, a celebration of independent record stores and music enthusiasts, is always a special event. But this year's edition will be remembered for years to come, especially for fans of Olivia Rodrigo. The young pop sensation's vinyl releases were in high demand, with many record stores selling out quickly.

At Half Moon Records in The Shoppes, customers lined up early to get their hands on the coveted records. And it was a good thing they did, as the store sold out of its stock of Rodrigo's music within hours. According to Retail Track, which visited the store, Half Moon Records was filled with records and had a number of different rooms and stores.

But Rock Fantasy, another record store in the area, took things to the next level. The store celebrated Record Store Day/420 by staging two shows on successive nights at Quinnz Pinz, the local bowling alley where it promotes shows. And guess what was the top seller? Yes, you guessed it - Olivia Rodrigo's vinyl releases.

At Rock Fantasy, customers were waiting in line as early as 10 am to get their hands on the coveted records. The store's owner, Stephen Keeler, said that about 30 customers were in line when he showed up to open the store. And it was a good thing they did, as the store sold out of its stock of Rodrigo's music within hours.

But Rock Fantasy wasn't the only store to experience a huge turnout on Record Store Day. Darkside Records in nearby Middletown, N.Y. also saw a massive crowd, with customers lining up early and waiting patiently for their turn to shop. According to Johnson, one customer even drove 11 hours from Michigan to shop at Darkside because of how the store had handled the autographed Taylor Swift CD last year.

Overall, Record Store Day was a huge success this year, thanks in part to Olivia Rodrigo's vinyl releases. The event brought music enthusiasts together and reminded us all of the importance of supporting independent record stores. And who knows, maybe next year will be even bigger and better.
